1st Mission to China (Yunnan Province) from India
Focus: Parks and Gardens, Floriculture and Social Forestry

Proposal

India China Alliance Centre (ICAC) is an organisation which focuses on promoting Sino-Indian bilateral trade, investment and cultural co-operation. It has strong linkages with mainland China across provinces on the economic, business, trade and cultural front. The India China Alliance Centre was officially launched on 30th October, 2003 in New Delhi in the presence of Mr. A.K Thakur, the then Joint Secretary (East Asia), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Mr. Hao Kang Li, Vice Mayor, Chengdu Municipal Government, Sichuan Province, The People’s Republic of China.

During the last six years, ICAC has received a number of ministerial and business delegations from China and has also organised several focused Missions to China to promote bi-lateral cooperation in the area of Higher and Technical Education, IT and ITeS, Agriculture, Horticulture and Food Processing.

China, as you would be aware, has made rapid strides in the field of Development and maintenance of Parks and Gardens, Floriculture and Social Forestry. The capital city of Kunming of Yunnan Province and the city of Lijiang also in Yunnan Province are two outstanding examples.

The key objective of the mission would be to identify areas of cooperation between Yunnan Province and the State Governments in the Development and Maintenance of Parks and Gardens, Floriculture and Social Forestry.

This programme has been specially designed for the Department of Environment of the State Governments of India.

We have evolved an attractive package of Rs.1, 45, 000/- per person for the 7 day (6 nights) tour. The package shall include:

* Economy Class
** Single occupancy (hotel accommodation) would involve an additional charge of Rs. 15, 000/- only per pax.
*** Those wishing to fly directly from Kolkata, the package offer would be Rs. 1,35,000 per person only
**** Those not looking for hotel accommodation in Kolkata during return travel, will get a further discounted package of Rs. 1,30,000

Till October, 2003, I was heading the East Asia Representative office of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) out of Shanghai. During my stint with CII for nearly two decades from 1984-2003,I have held several senior positions such as Regional Director-North India, Senior Director-Trade Fairs as also Head-CII International. I hold a Masters Degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and was educated at St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, Kolkata.

As Regional Director of CII (Northern Region) from 1993-2001, I have had privilege of organising the first four editions of Agro-Tech (North India’s premier biennial Agro Technology Fair) which had Israel and Australia as the Partner Country in 1994 and 1996 respectively. I have also organised several Agri Missions to different parts of the World including Australia, Israel, Europe, USA and Canada under the banner of CII.

I look forward to receiving your formal confirmation and that of your colleague(s) at the earliest but not later than 2 August, 2010 along with the documents as mentioned in the check list and a DD in favour of India China Alliance Centre payable at New Delhi for the requisite amount.
