Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, a Masters in Tenyidie (Angami) and a Doctorate in Literature from Nagaland University. He is a recipient of the Governor’s Award for outstanding achievement and contribution to Literature.

Currently, he holds the important portfolio of Minister, in-charge of Higher and Technical Education and Urban Development. A multifaceted personality, he started his career as an educationist and went on to become one of the most successful and veteran politicians in the State.

Despite a busy political career, he has authored 39 books in Tenyidie. Most of his books are used as text books at the school and University level. He is credited with developing Tenyidie Literature and introducing it at the Post Graduate Level ahead of all other Naga local dialects. He is a distinguished Member of many Educational Institutions and Societies in Nagaland.

He has served as Minister for Education, Planning and Coordination and was responsible for introducing new text books in schools besides helping streamline new systems for construction of school buildings and operationalising the Compact Area Development Scheme and Housing for the poor.

He has introduced a number of institutions that teach infrastructure development and has helped expand the capacity of colleges and polytechnics in the State. He is looking forward to seeing how China works in the area of Higher and Technical Education and exploring areas of collaboration and mutual interest.
