Mrs. Dilafrose Qazi is a double MA with a Masters degree in Education and Economics. She has also done her LLB programme.

A Chief Patron at the SSM College of Engineering and Polytechnic, she has contributed in promoting vocational and technical education and training to the youth of the region. She started a Polytechnic for Women in 1988, which was the first of its kind in the State and was geared at providing employability skills to women.

She is a Member at the Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation in New Delhi and Member PAGWASH for Peace in South Asia. She has participated in various conferences on the theme of Restoration of Peace in South Asia with special reference to Kashmir.

She has served the State of J&K in a social and welfare capacity by helping establish Self Help Groups for the underprivileged, especially widows and destitute women. She has also worked for migrants who had to leave the valley due to terrorism in Kashmir, having made notable efforts to reconcile them with the mainstream community.

She is responsible for the functioning of three charitable schools for victims of violence. Through numerous such initiatives she has performed the role of social activist, efficient administrator and visionary.

In recognition for her sincere social work, without any material or financial assistance from any agency, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

She is looking forward to sharing experiences and exchanging ideas and technical expertise with like-minded institutes of higher learning in China, so that she can implement some of these back home.
